This photo and the previous 2 were taken this summer at a house near where I live. It is a climbing plant from South America I believe called Alamanda. So it was the 2nd leg of the league Cup semi-final betwen Arsenal and Spurs. Spurs scored a late equalizer to make it 1-1 in regulation, then Arsenal scored 2 in extra time to win 3-1 ( 5-3 agg ). They go on to meet Chelsea in the final.

A New Poem...

The Wind
it talks to me
in strong and gentle tones

The Wind
it chills me
through to my bones

The Sun
it beams out
from the dark

The Sun
brings forth
the singing of the Lark.

For the last week or so the weather forcast has predicted snow showers or flurries in the evening. Next morning there is very little evidence of this. However this morning there was a good coating of snow on the ground. The cloudy day that was expected did not appear and we were showered with sunshine, which cleared away most of the snow.

My nephew is very happy today, because his team West Brom beat my team Wolves 3-0 in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Other than that it has been a good day, the weather has been almost spring like, since it's the last few days of January that's pretty good. I saw this image and just thought I bet he's going to be a footballer.

I don't think I had the Flu, just some kind of a cold. I have been feeling a lot better, though there is some soreness around my mouth and nose, that could also just be from the cold wind we have been experienceing. I had a short run today which felt pretty good and I am sleeping well, though a few strange dreams.

A couple of Christmas's ago my sister gave me a pair of ski pants, they are really warm if you wear them indoors. However on a cold day outside they are perfect, today was that day.The early morning temp' was 10 f ( approx' -11 c ), with the wind making it feel like -10 f ( -20 c ). I was howver nice and snuggley in my ski pants.

I've had the sniffles for the last 2 days, with occasional sneezing fits, but my energy levels are good. it doesn't help that it will be very cold for a few more days. We will just have to see how it goes. It has been very busy at work and nearing the end of the week I am feeling a bit tired, so a chance to recover a little at the weekend should help.

I forgot to mention yesterday that Chelsea beat Wycome 4-0 in the semi-final second leg of the Lge Cup to win 5-1 on agg' to make the final. Today Arsenal drew with Spurs 2-2 in their semi-final 1st leg..Last night my friend utpal called me from Thailand where he has been for a week and semms to be having a great time. He has made a couple of travel log video's and I will post links, hopefully tomorrow. Actually here is 1 of them now

I had a really hard job to do at work today, I got started almost as soon as I got in and bfeore I knew it I was done. I purchased some Ram memory from Newegg on sunday and it was scheduled to be delivered today. It came in the early evening by UPS and I put it in right away. It is amazing how much faster my computer is running. It only took me a minute to install. what an exciting day I had.

Not too cold today though it was overcast the whole day. There was evidence of a light snowfall this morning but that disapeared during the day. I seem to have slightly strained my right hamstring making it sore but not preventing me from running in the afternoon. I've only been back 2 weeks and I am already making plans for my next trip. This time to eastern europe, but I'll get to that at a later time.

Sunday, January 21, 2007

When I went out for my run this morning it was 19 f , but when I started running it felt a lot colder. My running friend Utpal is away for a few weeks so I am running on my own. Even when it is so cold it doesn't take long to work up a sweat, still I did not stay out too long but was happy that I went out. I forgot to mention yesterday that Chelsea ( 2nd in the prem' ) lost to Liverpool (3rd ) 2-0. Today the leaders Man Utd lost 2-1 to Arsenal who are 4th, it made the top 4 just that little bit closer.

A cold and blustery day here in NYC. This morning I was drafted in to help with the 2 mile race, only 5 participants. Temp' was around freezing but with 50 mph wind gusts it felt really cold. A friend of mine has gone to Thailand and my nephew is hooking up with a friend of his who is a boxer there. I also saw an article about a friend of a friend who is planning to swim the length of the Amazon river starting next month, pretty crazy uh!

Friday, January 19, 2007

So it did snow this morning a little after 6am, real snow this time and it coated the ground. They say it is the latest day for 1st snow to fall in NYC for 135 years. Though as I am writing this there is bright sunshine and the sky is a beautiful soft blue with puffy white clouds. I am reading a book at the moment called; Micheal Palin diaries1969-1979, The Python years, which was given as a christmas present to me by my niece. It is a lot of fun and interesting too.

Thursday, January 18, 2007

It was trying so hard to snow this afternoon in NYC, when I left work you could see snow flakes mixed in with rain drops. It was however too warm and the flakes would turn to raindrops before they hit the ground.

Wednesday, January 17, 2007

As I left for work this morning the temp' was 19f (-7c ) and with the wind at 28mph ( 47kph ) it felt like 1 f ( -14c ), but wrapped up nice and warmly it didn't feel so bad. Arriving home in the afternoon it was 29f (-2c ) and sunny. I don't know if it was the large salad I had for lunch but I felt pretty good when I went for my run. My nephew ( a WBA fan ) e mailed me to say that the game is on, meaning the 4th round FA Cup game between Wolves and WBA in about 11 days time.

One last photo of OD farm. Wolves managed to beat Oldham 2-0 in their FA Cup 3rd round replay and will now play local rivals West Bromwich Albion at home, in the 4th round. should be an interesting game.

You can see from this photo how nice Old Drayton farm is going to look and how much has been done.
It has been rainy on and off all day, I have been back in New York for a week now, but still seem to be on UK time, going to bed early and waking up early too.

Sunday, January 14, 2007

So this is Old Drayton farm 12 months later in december 2006. Ran this morning with my friend Utpal, raining a little but still mild. Then went to breakfast with some serbian friends. We went to a Colombian place called Punta Rojo which is bout a 10 minute walk from my house, the food is really good, you get a lot, and it is not expensive. I think we were the only non hispanic people in there.

Saturday, January 13, 2007

This is a photo of Old Drayton Farm I took in December of 2005, tomorrow I will post a photo I took in December of 2006. Today was an overcast day with light rain but temperatures are still mild. One Saturday a month I visit a local restuarant and make sure they are taking care of their plants, for this I get a free meal. It is also soccer saturday in England, and my Wolves managed to give up a goal in the last 5 minutes to earn only a 1-1 draw with local rivals Stoke City, still nicely poised for the play-offs though.

The warm weather has returned after a couple of cold days. When I went out for my run today I saw a Quince bush starting to flower. it was nice to just work a few hours today and then take a nap this afternoon. Well it is official! David Beckham will leave Real Madrid in june and come and play in the US for the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS. Reports have him making 1 million dollars a week for 5 years.

Thursday, January 11, 2007

much colder today, it was below freezing last night and was still so when I left for work this morning. Seemed to get through the day without feeling so tired today. I see on the BBC site that Graham Souness ( former Liverpool player ) is looking to buy my beloved Wolves, it's just my oppinion but I think that might be a good thing.

Wednesday, January 10, 2007

Well my bag did arrive albeit at 6:45 pm and after I realised that they had the wrong street address on my file, but they always call just before they deliver. A cold day with strong winds but still mild compared to usual temp's. Wycome Wanderers held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in their league cup semi-final 1st leg .

Tuesday, January 09, 2007

The weather has turned a little cooler here , or so they tell me. My first day at work this year went quite well, though I definately felt a little tired on the way home. As I write this I am waiting for my bag to arrive from the airport. Arsenal beat Liverpool 6-3 in their league Cup 1/4 final today and will now play Spurs in the semi-final.

It is time for me to break my blogging silence. During my time at my sisters I could not access my posting page. I have had a chance to totally relax, and just a few hours ago arrived back in New York. My luggage however decided to spend at least one more day in England, and is waiting in Manchester airport to come over tomorrow. So I am back and will be posting as much as I can when I can.
