2 weeks from today I will be leaving to go to my cousins wedding,it will be the first wedding I have been to for quite a while,so it should be interesting ( well at least for me )We seem to have made up for the lack of rain at the beginning of the month in the last few days, but right now it is cool and dry.

It had been a tough weekend and when I woke up this morning it was raining,so I decided not to go to work for the couple of hours I usually do on a monday. Also some of my friends who have been visiting were leaving today,so it was a chance to spend a last few hours. We have had a pretty cool August probably the coolest for some time.

The rain continues to come down here in New York, but this is keeping the temperatures nice and cool which makes for good sleeping conditions at night.Usually at this time of year we are struggling with high temp's and high humidity so it is a pleasant change.Oh! my beloved Wolves won yesterday and are at the moment in 5th place in the Championship,it's early in the season yet though.

Well I am back home! The day started with a 1 hour bus ride to Rockland State park, there were about 800 runners and the start was overcast and cool. Then about 1 hour into it the rain came and at one time the scene resembled an Indian monsoon, which made me really laugh at times.I managed to maintain a decent pace for the first 15 miles with some problems from my left foot. Then I started to have some problems with my upper leg muscles maybe not fully recovered from my July weight loss.I was happy the whole time running a slow time ( for me ) of 5 hours and 13 minutes,I know I will be stronger for the next race that comes along.

Left work a few minutes early, needed to get a few things for tomorrow. The race starts at 7am and the buses to get there leave at 4:30 ,so I have to get all my stuff together before I sleep tonight. The race is in a beautiful upstate park around a lake,a pretty flat course,so when I get back I will post and let you know how I did.

Today was an interesting day for me.I had to help out at the 2 mile race because we had a field of over 300 runners and a new mens race record of 9mins 10 seconds was set.I went out for a run later. My left foot which has been bothering me for the last 2 few days has not seemed to bother me when I run, and infact my running has seemed very relaxed and natural the last few days.I am hoping this stays like this for the next week at least since I have a marathon in 6 days.

Days are going by so fast I can hardly remember to post some thing.Last night I took my 3 friends from Bosnia on a short subway ride to Jackson heights which is an area not far from where I live that is full of Indian stores and restaurants, there is so much to see there and I think it was interesting for them to see wothout going all the way to manhattan.

The humidity has returned, well at least more than the last few days anyway. But the temps are still not what they were earlier in the month.I seem to have recovered quite well from my run yesterday, and manage a nice little run today.2 of my friends from Bosnia arrive today, not only on their first trip to New York, but I think their first flight anywhere.

A great sunday morning greeted me as I walked to the corner to meet Utpal the temp was just 62 f after a few minutes of running we ran into a couple of friends who are visiting from Slovakia and the four of us ran out to the 5 mile point, then Utpal and 1 guy ran on and me and the other 1 ran back.I ran at a good pace and completed the full 10 miles with no major problem from my left foot,so there has been continued improvement over the last few weeks. The marathon is less than 2 weeks away and I am happy with my progress.

We are experiencing a cool spell at the moment with the temperature only reaching 79 f today and going down into the 60's at night, which makes for good sleeping after the hot sticky nights we had last week.My friend Abichal finished running 3100 miles late last night,it took him 58 days 16 hours 22 minutes and 4 seconds, for his 3rd time finishing the race.

Sunday morning 74 f and 79% humidity went for my usual run with Utpal,I am feeling stonger and seem to have recovered well from the race yesterday. So I manage to run 10 miles with a little difficulty near the end,but I am happy that I am improving. The weather is in a much cooler phase, closer to normal for this time of the year.

I hope you enjoyed the video I posted yesterday,it was put togehter by my illustrator in Bulgaria and is the start of a project to make a short animated movie of the first Dilly and Dally book. The weather people said it would not be so hot today, but it hit 93 f with a heat index of 100 so it felt just as hot as the last couple of days,we will see.

Walking home from work this afternoon it did not seem as hot as yesterday, but when I got home I checked and it is 94 f with a heat index of 104 f so same as yesterday. The high yesterday was 96 f apparently.I posted a video of a giant caterpillar I found on youtube on sunday, and to date over 6000 people have looked at it .Pretty good eh!

Well the weather people were right it was a hot one today,as I write this post it is 92 f and feels like 104 f.My head of department at college would have been so proud of me , the tree in the photo is a wyche elm.We were always being asked " what tree is this " which was a clue that it was a wyche elm,and this is a weeping one at that.
