New York seems to want to say goodbye with a cold hand. I leave for England tomorrow and this morning was a windy 20f ( wc 11f ) , it really felt cold. On my way home it was 24f ( wc14f ). There is bright sunshine so that when you are inside it seems like a nice day out there. Paid some bills to ensure that I have a phone etc when I get back.

Surprise, surprise, Arsenal,Man U and Celtic join Chelsea and Liverpool in the knockout stages of the Champions League. Even though Celtic lost to Copenhagen. I am already making my bags ready for my trip to England in a few days. The weather was a little warmer today but there is still very strong wind. The winter in New York so far as been the winter of strong winds.

Temp' was hovering just above freezing this morning when Utpal and I ran. The sun was shining however so it didn't seem so bad. We have had some really strong winds around here lately, and a tree came down onto the local tennis court, and a bunch of guys with chainsaws wnet to clean it uo this morning. Good work for this kind of day.

Today was an interesting day for a December 2nd, while the temperature was quite low ( 40's f ) , it was abright pleasant day. Arsenal, who have not been doing too well lately, beat Spurs 3-0 and moved up to 3rd in the premiership. They are still 16 points behind Man U who are at the top. Wolves beat Southend 1-0 and are back in 10th in the Championship. tonight a bunch of us got together to watch a classic Japanese film " Tampopo".

I don't think I mentioned it before but one of my friends from work went to see the new James Bond film, and he says it is really good. Even though it is a remake, he says it is very different than the other one. Oh! by the way Wolves managed another 1-1 draw the other night and have actually slipped down the league even more.

This morning I ran on my own at 6am, the weather is very nice at the moment, and by the time I finished my run the sun was coming up on a beautiful day. This 4 day weekend has been great, but tomorrow it will be back to work, but only for 2 more weeks. The big game came and went and in the end it was Man U 1-1 Chelsea so nothing has changed at the top of the Premiership. For you cricket fans out there England are bravely getting beaten badly by the Australians. It's only a game!
Saturday, November 25, 2006
As I often do at this time of the year, I was co-race director of the 2 mile race this morning. And what a beautiful morning it was. Small turnout though, but everyone seemed happy. Managed to get my own run in later in the day. Arsenal lost to Bolton in the Premiership which dampens their spirit a little. 1st plays second in the big game tomorrow.
Friday, November 24, 2006
Wolves had a friday night game against Sunderland tonight. They took the lead just before halftime, then gave up a goal in the 80th minute and the game ended 1-1. At least it is better then a loss, but they need to win a few more games and score a few more goals, if they want to make it back into the Premeirship. I had a pretty relaxing day the weather was better than yesterday though it didn't feel that much warmer. The weekend promises to be nice.

Yes it's champions league time again, and the big result is Celtic beating Man U 1-0 to go top of their group. Arsenal came back from 1 down to beat Hamburg 3-1. Stafford Rangers who come from near where my sister lives, have made it into the second round of the FA cup, they are currently in the middle of the Conference a semi-proffesional team. So good for them.

Today was a strange day for me something came up at the last minute, and I spent the day making lots of phone calls and trying to catch up with some people. Some friends who had been visiting were leaving today and everything was a bit hectic. By the end of the day though all was sorted out and I could relax. That's life in the big city!
Sunday, November 19, 2006
Today was my day to be the guard at the tennis court as I have mentioned before. So I ran alone at 6:15 just a short run.It has turned quite cold and overcast. When I had finished my duties I went out for a second run, this time with my friend Utpal, it was the first time in a long time that have run twice in one day.
Saturday, November 18, 2006
Well I got some interesting reactions to my photo of my friends and I in the strange skater pants, one guy thought they should have sold them at all let alone for $1. Mostly though people thought it was funny. Well Wolves managed to eek out a 1-1 draw against local rivals Birmingham on saturday but still slipped to 10th in the league.
Friday, November 17, 2006
I posted this photo and now I can't rotate it, sorry about the broken necks. These are 2 of my Serbian friends, hence the flag. We got these trousers at a local store for just $1 and couldn't resist wearing them. They are actually scateboarders pants from California and are all the rage, they even have a pocket for your cell phone.

OK so my friend Utpal is sick with some kind of flu symptoms and I have this hip problem which is also a lower back problem now, though it is not too bad and I am learning to deal with it. Actually it seems to be ok when I run, and so the both of us went out late morning for a short run, which I think helped us both feel a little better. A peroid of rain as come upon us and it seems it will be so for a few days, this has however helped to keep the temperatures a little warmer.
Saturday, November 11, 2006
a problem that I had with my left hip,2 years ago, seems to have returned. There is already some improvement and I think that it will recover as it did back then. The fact thayt we have such nice weather at the moment will probably speed things up. So my Wolves lost away today, I think they have won away only once this season. They now fallen to 8th in the league and need to improve.
Friday, November 10, 2006
Well it's that time of the year when I seem to get a lot of inspiration to write. I have been getting a few poems lately and also I have been working on my running stories, which is a project that I have been working on for about 2 years and will one day come out as a book. I recieved a message from my agents assistant that mailings have gone out to 10 major publishers about my book, so once again we have to wait and see.
Thursday, November 09, 2006
What a beautiful day, it was already in the high 50's when I left for work this morning and it only got better. A friend of mine from Serbia arrived and brought with him some really nice herbal tea, so we drank tea and had a nice chat. My sisters dog is not doing so well but we hope that with some rest comforting he will improve.
Wednesday, November 08, 2006
The rain has once again returned, it has been raining all day, but along with the rain come warmer temperatures. There are fallen leaves all over the ground which is also a product of the rain. Liverpool, Arsenal, and Spurs all made it into the 1/4 finals of the League Cup. Things are changeing here in the US, we will see what change brings.
Tuesday, November 07, 2006
Southend, from the championship, have beaten Manchester United from the Premiership 1-0 in the 4th round of the League cup,in England. This is quite an upset. Top teams often field a weaker side in the early rounds of these cup competitions, but even Man U's weak teams are full of stars. United are top of the prem' and Southend are bottom of the Championship.Other than that it is just a quiet old election day here in New York, with results to come later.

Since I was born and grew up in England today is the celebration of Guy Fawlkes, who ha dhis own ideas of how disrupt politics. It was 38f when Utpal and I went for our run this morning, but all wrapped up we ran out to flushing meadow and back. Then we had the opportunity to watch the new York City marathon, which was actually quite exciting. With a Latvian defending the womens title and a Brazilian wining the mens race. both Chelsea and Arsenal lost in the Premiership, so Man U now have a 3 point lead. 2 friends of mine, Luis ( 4: 31:15 ) and Shishaldin ( 4:44:13 ) ran the marathon, congratulations to both of you.

It would appear I forgot to post yesterday, I got imersed in a BBC Electric Proms concert by James Brown and that was it.This photo (taken at my cousins wedding ) is by way of a sweetener.I tried 2 or 3 of them and they were yummy.Today never got above 46f and tonight will be right around freezing, but I hear it's colder in europe.

Time for a Uefa Champions League update; Didier Drogba scored in the dying seconds of the game to give Chelsea a 2-2 draw with Barca, and Liverpool beat Bordeaux 3-0, with this win Liverpool will advance to the next round with 2 games to play in this one. A great day for weather with temp's reaching 69f a welcome change after the cold last week.

I saw this picture on the BBC site , these monkeys in India are watching the England cricket team practice. Still very windy but nice bright sunshine. Remembered to put my clocks back hour. Ran with Utpal out to and around Flushing meadow Lake, the scene of many of my ultra races. Then breakfast at a friends apartment.
Saturday, October 28, 2006
What a strange day! It started with very strong winds as much as 40mph and heavy rain, then the afternoon alternated between rain and bright sunshine. The temperature was at least warm 63f. my football team managed a 1-1 draw and are still 7th in the championship. Don't forget to put your clocks back tonight for daylight savings, an extra hour of sleep if you want it.
Friday, October 27, 2006
I have probably mentioned this before,I walk about 2 1/2 miles to work each morning. This morning it was around 38f though it must have been colder in some areas, because there was frost on some of the parked cars I passed. The leaves are also beginning to fall at quite a fast rate after a week of cold temperatures.
Thursday, October 26, 2006
My server was down yesterday when I tried to post , so here I am a day later. It has been really cold the last 2 mornings and it seems it will continue for a few more days . I seem to be feeling the cold and I think it is because of the fat I lost on the raw food diet this summer , hopefully Ican stop myself from putting it all back on .

This is a horse I met in Novi Sad on my recent trip to Serbia, actually it is a series of horses that is part of an art show that is travelling around europe.Today there was a cold wind that made it feel very wintery,on my way back from work I went shopping but didn't any clothes I liked.Did I mention that Wolves lost 3-0 to West brom.it is still early in the season though and they only dropped to 6th in the league.
Sunday, October 22, 2006
My sunday started in the usual way with me and Utpal going for a run,it was quite cold but the sun was shining. Then a new tradition that started last week was for both of us to go to a mutual friend for breakfast .We have a nice breakfast while talking about life in general it concludes with a desert and a specially selected herbal tea. What a pleasant way to spend sunday morning.
Saturday, October 21, 2006
Hey it's saturday and I was going to go shopping for some clothes and maybe some new running shoes, but I got talking with a few people and the next thing I knew it was late.Chelsea are back at the top of the premiership at least until tomorrow when Man U play. The big thing is that tomorrow Wolves play West Brom ,half of my family support Wolves and the other half West Brom and they are currently 3rd and 4th in the championship tied on points so a lot at stake.
Friday, October 20, 2006
I didn't go to my usual job today, twice a year I take care of a friends garden, she is a senior citizen.Today was the day I winterize every thing for her, which also includes the air conditioners in her house. It was rainy first thing but I always had the attitude of just get it done and worry about getting dry later. As it happened the rain stopped shortly after I started and everything went smoothly.
Thursday, October 19, 2006
My sleep seems to be getting a little bit back to normal though I have been having some interesting dreams, none that I will talk about here.A friend of mine from England called me today his name is Carl and I went to school with him,we had not talked for a while.I told him about my trip to Serbia and Romania and he told me that he may be going to Russia with his job soon.So all these years later we are both travelling in eastern europe.
Wednesday, October 18, 2006
Well I am back on high speed, just as I expacted they came and put up the new cable first thing since it had stopped raining. They did call me at work and tell me,which was nice of them. The photo is me with a balloon hat that was given to me at the 12/24 hour race in Belgrade last month. That is part of the course behind me and you can see that the weather was really nice, the last 3 years it has rained.A few hours later I was on a train to Romania.
Tuesday, October 17, 2006
Still on dial up, it is raining here and I guess they didn't want to come out and replace the cable.Had a nice conversation with my sister on the phone,of course she will read this now.A lot of football, champions league,Arsenal lost in frozen Moscow, but both Man U and Celtic won thier games.Wolves won in the championship and moved up to 4th,big game coming up this weekend with 3rd place and local rivals West Bromwich Albion.
Monday, October 16, 2006
So I have no high speed internet connection at the moment because the cable seems to have been pulled down by a passing truck that was too high for our street. So I am using dial up.Other than that it is a pretty good day.It was really cold this morning,40f but the afternoon turned out good,a pretty boring post but that's the way it is sometimes.
Sunday, October 15, 2006
Today started off like any other sunday, with me going for a run with my friend Utpal. We ran about 10 miles out to Flushing meadow lake and back.Later in the day was something special.I got to be part of an honour guard at a special funtion, where the guest was non other than the former President of the Soviet Union,Michial Gorbachev. So yes I got to see him up close, and it was truly something special.
Saturday, October 14, 2006
It is so nice to be able to relax a little on the weekend. This morning was again cold,we are definately in a cold spell, but the afternoon was quite pleasant, still cool but sunny.English club football was back on the slate and all the main teams in the premiership won.My old home team Wolverhampton Wanderers also won and moved to 5th in the championship, and a couple of my friends are in town.So it's a good start to th weekend.
Friday, October 13, 2006
It was the first real cold morning of the second half of the year, with actual temp's of 45f and wind effect temp's feeling like 37f,I had a brisk walk to work this morning. The trees are starting to turn colour and it is finally begining to feel like autumn. We have had 3 sometimes 4 guys out at work this week,so it has been a tough one since there is a lot of work at the moment. The weekend is a welcome relief hopefully I can get all charged up by monday.
Wednesday, October 11, 2006
Today was another day of euro 2008 qualifiers and England did not do so well against Croatia, losing 2-0.Scotland who had been flying high in their group came down to earth with a 2-0 loss to Ukraine, which will make my friend Genya very happy.Wales and Northern Ireland oth won and the Republic of Ireland drew with Czech Republic 1-1.Here In New York it is a rainy cooler day, almost as if out of sympathy for England and Scotland.

It is Columbus Day here in the US a holiday,I did however go to work for a few hours. Then I had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful day,it was sunny and the temperature climbed into the 70's.I managed to get some washing done and things are kind of getting back to normal, though I am still waking up early.

Euro 2008 qualifiers agian this weekend, and England stuggled to a 0-0 with Macedonia the new England under Steve McClaren doesn't seem that different now.Maybe they need Beckham back.Scotland had a great victroy 1-0 over France, they are playing like England should. The day here was cold and rainy,I didn't run the 2 mile race but I did get a run in later.
Friday, October 06, 2006
So here in New York the weather is kind of cool and rainy.I only work a few hours on fridays so I had a chance to catch up on a few things, including an early afternoon nap.The first week back at work after travelling is always a little tiring but you hang on till the weekend, and then you have a chance to recover.Once again here is another photo from the wedding.

Wednesday, October 04, 2006
My biggest problem at the moment seems to be jet lag, which is not really a problem.I am waking up at 3 in the morning after a really good sleep, which means that I can get a lot of things done early including starting work early. Then I usually have to take a nap in the afternoon.Oh by the way the photo I posted yesterday was my cousin Jelena and her new husband Sasha, who I went to see get married.
Tuesday, October 03, 2006
Well I was wide awake at 2:30 this morning, but that is not the case at the moment,my ability to stay awake is fast waning.I think I will take a nap as soon as I finish this post.I managed to get through a day of work, with one slight hitch. The lock on the door had broken last week and was replaced so my key was no good after almost going home I managed to get in and worked almost a full day.

Monday, September 11, 2006
Today is an interesting day for me.Five years ago on september 11 I was on a plane flying from Vienna to New York, when we got within 3 hours of New York we were told we were returning to Vienna, and it wasn't until some hours later that we got to see why.I spent 4 more days in Vienna before returning to New York and it is an experience that will stay with me forever. In a few days I will once again be travelling to Europe.
Sunday, September 10, 2006
A beautiful morning and my usual sunday run with Utpal,I think both of us have recovered well from our marathon exploits and I enjoyed the run very much. When I got home I was very happy to see that my beloved Wolves had won thier game against Leeds 1-0 and have now moved into 3rd place in the Championship.Mick Mc Carthy seems to have got them off to a good start this season.
Saturday, September 09, 2006
The US Open Tennis tournament is going on just a few miles away from me but you would not know it.If I decided to go for a run out there I could be there in less than a 1/2 hour. The weather is very beautiful at the moment and I am sure the tennis fans appreciate it.This weekend is when I plan to start packing my things for my trip to Europe,I have a nice suite that my brother in law gave to me some time ago,and it fits well.

So I went for my sunday run with Utpal, and after all the rain we have had it was a nice dry partly sunny morning.Since we both ran a marathon last week ( he beat me by 18 minutes ) it was an easy run .Oh by the way it was the Faroes that Scotland put 6 past yesterday,I was folloeing the Serbia v Azerbaijan game at the time I posted.Serbia won 1-0 by the way...
Saturday, September 02, 2006
What a day we have had strong winds all day with some rain, the winds are as high as 50 mph ( 87 kph ).There was also some whirlwind play in the Euro 2008 qualifiers with England putting 5 goals past Andorra ans Scotland 6 past Azerbijan a good start to their group qualifers. They have tougher games to come.

2 weeks from today I will be leaving to go to my cousins wedding,it will be the first wedding I have been to for quite a while,so it should be interesting ( well at least for me )We seem to have made up for the lack of rain at the beginning of the month in the last few days, but right now it is cool and dry.

Monday, August 28, 2006
It had been a tough weekend and when I woke up this morning it was raining,so I decided not to go to work for the couple of hours I usually do on a monday. Also some of my friends who have been visiting were leaving today,so it was a chance to spend a last few hours. We have had a pretty cool August probably the coolest for some time.
Sunday, August 27, 2006
The rain continues to come down here in New York, but this is keeping the temperatures nice and cool which makes for good sleeping conditions at night.Usually at this time of year we are struggling with high temp's and high humidity so it is a pleasant change.Oh! my beloved Wolves won yesterday and are at the moment in 5th place in the Championship,it's early in the season yet though.

Well I am back home! The day started with a 1 hour bus ride to Rockland State park, there were about 800 runners and the start was overcast and cool. Then about 1 hour into it the rain came and at one time the scene resembled an Indian monsoon, which made me really laugh at times.I managed to maintain a decent pace for the first 15 miles with some problems from my left foot. Then I started to have some problems with my upper leg muscles maybe not fully recovered from my July weight loss.I was happy the whole time running a slow time ( for me ) of 5 hours and 13 minutes,I know I will be stronger for the next race that comes along.
Thursday, August 24, 2006
Left work a few minutes early, needed to get a few things for tomorrow. The race starts at 7am and the buses to get there leave at 4:30 ,so I have to get all my stuff together before I sleep tonight. The race is in a beautiful upstate park around a lake,a pretty flat course,so when I get back I will post and let you know how I did.

Today was an interesting day for me.I had to help out at the 2 mile race because we had a field of over 300 runners and a new mens race record of 9mins 10 seconds was set.I went out for a run later. My left foot which has been bothering me for the last 2 few days has not seemed to bother me when I run, and infact my running has seemed very relaxed and natural the last few days.I am hoping this stays like this for the next week at least since I have a marathon in 6 days.

Days are going by so fast I can hardly remember to post some thing.Last night I took my 3 friends from Bosnia on a short subway ride to Jackson heights which is an area not far from where I live that is full of Indian stores and restaurants, there is so much to see there and I think it was interesting for them to see wothout going all the way to manhattan.

Monday, August 14, 2006
The humidity has returned, well at least more than the last few days anyway. But the temps are still not what they were earlier in the month.I seem to have recovered quite well from my run yesterday, and manage a nice little run today.2 of my friends from Bosnia arrive today, not only on their first trip to New York, but I think their first flight anywhere.
Sunday, August 13, 2006
A great sunday morning greeted me as I walked to the corner to meet Utpal the temp was just 62 f after a few minutes of running we ran into a couple of friends who are visiting from Slovakia and the four of us ran out to the 5 mile point, then Utpal and 1 guy ran on and me and the other 1 ran back.I ran at a good pace and completed the full 10 miles with no major problem from my left foot,so there has been continued improvement over the last few weeks. The marathon is less than 2 weeks away and I am happy with my progress.

Wednesday, August 09, 2006
We are experiencing a cool spell at the moment with the temperature only reaching 79 f today and going down into the 60's at night, which makes for good sleeping after the hot sticky nights we had last week.My friend Abichal finished running 3100 miles late last night,it took him 58 days 16 hours 22 minutes and 4 seconds, for his 3rd time finishing the race.
Tuesday, August 08, 2006
Monday, August 07, 2006
Sunday, August 06, 2006
Sunday morning 74 f and 79% humidity went for my usual run with Utpal,I am feeling stonger and seem to have recovered well from the race yesterday. So I manage to run 10 miles with a little difficulty near the end,but I am happy that I am improving. The weather is in a much cooler phase, closer to normal for this time of the year.

I hope you enjoyed the video I posted yesterday,it was put togehter by my illustrator in Bulgaria and is the start of a project to make a short animated movie of the first Dilly and Dally book. The weather people said it would not be so hot today, but it hit 93 f with a heat index of 100 so it felt just as hot as the last couple of days,we will see.
Wednesday, August 02, 2006
Walking home from work this afternoon it did not seem as hot as yesterday, but when I got home I checked and it is 94 f with a heat index of 104 f so same as yesterday. The high yesterday was 96 f apparently.I posted a video of a giant caterpillar I found on youtube on sunday, and to date over 6000 people have looked at it .Pretty good eh!
Tuesday, August 01, 2006
Well the weather people were right it was a hot one today,as I write this post it is 92 f and feels like 104 f.My head of department at college would have been so proud of me , the tree in the photo is a wyche elm.We were always being asked " what tree is this " which was a clue that it was a wyche elm,and this is a weeping one at that.

Sunday, July 30, 2006
The temp's are supposed to be quite hot for the next few days,in the 90's and it was already 80 f when I met utpal on the corner to start our sunday run.I am feeling much stronger so I ran 10 miles today, though I can see that I need a little bit more building up for my marathon in a months time but I think I will be ok.
Saturday, July 29, 2006
once again the humidity was quite high ( 78% ) but I am stronger this week and my time was 15minutes and 40 seconds which was an improvement.I had gained about 4 1/2 lbs during the week but that stabilized and have lost about 1lb since so I hope that my running will continue to improve towards the marathon in 4 weeks time.
Friday, July 28, 2006
once again I am posting quite late.It has been a busy day for me .I have been checking out the possibilty of going to my cousins wedding and seem to have found a pretty good deal on an airline ticket,if it works out in the next couple of days I will make plans to go in September,so I will keep you informed.

When I woke up this morning I was really sore but once I started moving around it started to feel better. My day at work went quite quickly and before I knew it I was back home.My cousin in Serbia is getting married in september and she has invited me to the wedding so I have to see what I can do,though air travel is getting quite expensive at the moment.
Tuesday, July 25, 2006
So today was lumber day at work. This si when we get a truck load of lumber from Canada and 8 of us have to unload it 1 board at a time. This takes us about 4 hours and actually up to lunch time, which today was a delicious homemade Lentil soup.I also find that I sleep really well at night after this task and I am also saw for a couple of days afterwards.
Monday, July 24, 2006
The weather is much nicer now, sunny but not so hot and humid.I have gained back 2 lbs and it has made me feel so much stronger when I run.A few days ago was my friend Goran's birthday so tonight some of us took him out for dinner.we went a really nice Italian place that had great salads as well as good pizza.

So I decided to run the 2 mile race this morning even though it was 90% humidity and my time wasn't so great 16min's 01seconds but I was happy.I have finished my raw food diet though nothing much has changed except a little cheese on my salad at lunch. My final weight loss is 14 lbs, though when I weighed myself after the race it was 16 lbs.I am really glad I did the diet and will continue to to eat more healthier,we will see how things go.

A day that started off so innocently changed with a bang at about 10am when a huge thunder storm dropped a large amount of rain.It only lasted for about 25 minutes and then the sun came out but streets were flooded all over the place, then we got another one about 4 hours later.A very interesting end to the week.
Thursday, July 20, 2006
I have 1 full day left on my raw fod diet and at my latest check In have lost 13 lbs.I am sure that will change when I go back on to regular food,I realized that I needed more protein in my diet after my run on sunday and have increased it and my run today was much better of course that is also probably due to the better weather .

It has been so hot here for the last 2 days that I just wanted to remember what it was like just 6 months ago.Fortunatley the weather will get cooler for the next week.I have 3 days left of the raw food diet and to date have lost 12 lbs,I lose some weight and then it stabilizes then I start to lose again.I have learned so much in the last 18 days about raw food and will put it to good use in the future.
Monday, July 17, 2006
It was already warm when I left for work today 77 f ( 23c ) and it has now gone up to 92f but the humidity is better than yesterday.I ran just a few miles and didn't feel too bad,I realised i need more protein in my diet but only 4 more days to go.I am down 12 lbs, they say it stabilizes after a while but I guess my body needs to lose lbs.I am now the weight I was 15 years ago so I think it is good thing ,I think it will help me in my marathon in August,we will see.
Sunday, July 16, 2006
My usual sunday morning run was my longest run since started the raw food diet.I ran 6 miles but began to feel the weight that I have lost at around 3 1/2 miles in,I must say it was also hot and humid.I am continuing my diet for a few more days in fact for total of 21 days so by next weekend I will be back on regular food but with a new attitude about eating.

This is our cat at work her name is Nipples but usually we just call her cat or baby.

A beautiful morning and my left arch has improved overnight.I meet Utpal on the corner as usual but my run is just a short one today,I am feeling really good, apart from my foot, and enjoy my run.The final of the world cup is this afternoon and will be gathering with some of my friends to watch it in a true match atmosphere.I will of course report tomorrow.
Saturday, July 08, 2006
I wasn't sure how I would feel after losing 6 lbs in 7 days when it came to running in the 2 mile race this morning, being lighter helps but you don't have the strenght yet.Anyway I did alright 15mins and 29 sec's was my best time for a while.I did feel some pain in my left arch but managed to run through it.We will see what happens next week. The weather was nice also temps in the mid 60'sf.
Friday, July 07, 2006
It's day 7 in my raw food diet and things are going pretty well,I have lost 5 lbs in the last 6 days, but then I was carrying a little extra anyway.I am starting to get a little inventive with my food creations now and I am really enjoying the taste of everything. I had the idea of maybe continuing after the 15 days but we will see when we get there.

It's the 4th of july,America's birthday and I am posting late.It was a hot and sticky one,and the main focus of my friends and myself was watching the Germany v Italy semi-final at the world cup.Which was an excellent game with Italy coming out 2-0 winners and advancing to the final, there opponents to be decided tomorrow in the semi-final between Portugal and France. I am also in the 4th day of my raw food diet and doing well.

When someone tells you about the raw food diet they tell you how much better you will feel, but they leave out the detox part.I have done cleansing diets before and I was expecting it but it is still the hardest part.Anyway that seems to be almost over now and I am getting used to my new regimin, being a vegetarian also helps.I ran easily this morning and my arch problem seems to be almost gone. All is well!

It's a rainy cool day in New York and I got soaked on my run this morning.Yesterday Germany showed how important home field advantage is in beating Sweden 2-0 and Argentina showed how patient they can be in beating Mexico 2-1.Today England showed how to win stuggling 1-0 against Ecuador in the heat of Germany, another 1/4 final berth.

france who were in danger of not making it out of the group stages, beat Togo 2-0 to finish second in thier group to switzerland and will now play spain in the second round.Tomorrow the second round begins. The weather here in New York is very pleasant with cooler temps and lower humidity,so far we have managed to avoid the thunderstorms that were predicted for the last 2 days.

It's sticky here in New York, the humidity was 90% when I left the house this morning.Very often when it is like this we get thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, and at last check there were some on the way.Hopefully this will help cool things down a little from the hot last few days we have been having.still some interesting games in the world cup as we approach the end of the group stages and a few places are still up for grabs in the second round.
Sunday, June 18, 2006
For some reason yesterday my post would not publish.Anyway today is Fathers Day here in America, and we had a marathon which started at 5am,the humidity was already at 70% when about 40 of us started running. It went well for me for the first 10 miles but then my left foot started giving me a strange pain a kind of numb cramp which would come and go.I managed 8 more miles and then I was done.I came home and collapsed in a heap on my bed.Well it was a good workout.

These cool mornings that we are having at the moment are really nice, the rain that we have also had is making this a great spring.Of course it is also nice to be able to watch some great football games from the world cup.I will say that the USA did notlook good losing to The Czech republic 3-0 in their first game of the tournament.Congrats to Australia who won their first ever game in the world cup finals 3-1 against Japan.

An early start for me.My friend Abichal is running in the worlds longest race the 3100 mile race here in Queens,it started today at 6am.After the start I ran 7 miles then came back and watched the Serbia & Montengro v Holland game a classic european style game ,with Holland winning 1-0.If you want to check out the 3100 mile race click on the multiday.com link then click on 3100 mile race link.I am an Englishman in New York and passionate about football ( soccer ) so for the next few weeks there will be a lot of talk about the World Cup.

One of the runners from the 6 day race came out to visit today, she had lunch with Abichal and myself. Then we took her on a tour of the 3100 mile course, which Abichal will start running on sunday,I will be his handler again this year.It turned out to be a nice day,and the world cup has started with Germany the hosts beating Costa Rica 4-2 in the first game.

Today was a day for umbrella's,rain gear and wellies ( wellington Boots ),from the moment I stepped out of the door to the moment I stepped back in,it was raining. In the last couple of weeks I have been visiting a site called youtube, where people post videos of various types and people from all around the world can view them.So I took my digital ( still ) and made a short video, no sound and put it up there as an experiment. You can see it if you want by going to youtube.com and entering anuday in the search window, then just click on my video.

The weather has turned decidedly cooler and I have to say it is quite pleasant, just across the street a group of builders are constucting an extension on an already large house. This is becoming the new thing here in New York, supersizing, they are taking advantage of the weather and working away quite noisily. This time last year I spent a couple of days on San Fransisco,so I am posting a phot I took when I was there. Well it seems that the photo does not want to be posted at this time,so you will have to wait until tomorrow.

After all the rain of the last 48 hours,it was still overcast this morning as I met Utpal on the corner and the temperature was only 59 f .I was slightly under dressed but soon warmed up.the run was good with a lot of banter and we stopped for our usual coffee and mufin on the way home.It has been an interesting Spring so far and summer is only 3 weeks away.
Saturday, June 03, 2006
Well it was my turn to be the guard at our tennis ground today. The day was a mix of rain and no rain. The rain ranged from a light drizzle to a strong downpour and the no rain was overcast. The day of course was un- eventful, but while I was doing that England cricketers were struggling against Sri lanka and the England soccer players were beating Jamaica 6-0.So everything was happening somewhere else while I was having a quiet day.
Friday, June 02, 2006
I am not quite sure what it is, but it seems that rain inspires me to write. On the way to work this morning it was trying to rain after quite a lot of thunderstorms during the night.I have been planning to write something about my latest 6 day race for a running magazine, suddenly it started writing itself in my head as I was walking in the rain, many of my poems have come to me in the same way.So after a few hours of work and breakfast I sat down to write my piece, which of course was already in my head so it was quite easy to write. This is the process I use in everything I write these days, allowing myself to be the instrument.
Thursday, June 01, 2006
OK so I got about 4 and a half hours of sleep last night, but my walk to work was quite lively. At work we recieved a container full of frames from China and it is quite a job un- loading and putting them away,it was my job to keep track of everything, which can be hard when your still half asleep.I managed it but left 1/2 an hour early.Poor me,Ha Ha Ha.
Wednesday, May 31, 2006
Well there is a slight change in the weather and the temperature is about 10 degrees F cooler.Which made my morning walk to work very pleasant and my journey was nice too.We seem to be settleing in to our usuall late spring weather, which can be pleasantly warm or hot, with evening thunderstorms, which are of course good for the flowers and trees. The flowers provide fragrance and the trees provide shade.
Tuesday, May 30, 2006
Today was one of those days when it was warm at the start and already humid, the kind of days you hate in the summer. So dear old Mother Nature was giving us a taste of what is to come maybe in July and August. The England soccer team had their next to last warm up game before the World Cup,beating Hungary 3-1 in Manchester,we will see what happens next.

A beautiful sunday morning,no longer having to worry about if I have enough clothing on.The birds seem to really like the change in the weather the air is filled with song, and I am finally able to open the windows of my room and let fresh air in.Run went well once again about 6 miles.my hamstring began to tighten after about 3 miles but I eased off and it loosened up,so I am glad with recovery.
Saturday, May 27, 2006
It rained pretty hard last night, this morning it was a mix of overcast and sunny.I had decided that my hamstring was not healed enough to allow me to run the 2 mile race,so I helped out.The day has developed into a sort of early summer day,hot and a little sticky, but that also means that the evenings are becoming much nicer. One can just sit out and enjoy.
Friday, May 26, 2006
There was a beautiful light mist this morning as I left for work, somehow it made me think of europe, once it burned off there was bright sunshine. But after midday it started to rain. The temp's are much milder now and I think the rain is quite pleasant. My friend Abichal has discovered Skype and is quickly calling everybody he knows who has it.I had a conference call with 2 of my friends in Bulgaria this afternoon.

Sunday, May 21, 2006
A very nice morning, bright sunshine and not too warm.Met Utpal on the corner at 7:30 and ran my longest run since the race, about 6 miles, though I did feel some tightness in my right calf, similar to the problem I had last year, but not to the same degree.I have a father's day marathon comming up in 4 weeks time so we will see how it goes.

Well the Champions League Final got really interesting after I logged off yesterday.Barcelona scored 2 goals in the last 15 minutes to win 2-1,it was kind of sad for Arsenal as they had tried so hard with 10 men to hold on to their 1 goal lead.I was happy to see Ashley Cole and Sol Campbell play well and think they will help England do well in the up comming World Cup this summer. My sister should be back from her vacation today,so wellcome home sis.

This morning it was pouring with rain on my journey to work, then on the way home in the afternoon it was sunny and bright. Two days in a row the weather has been like this.Since I was trained as a horticulturalist,I actually like this kind of weather,it is good for plants and flowers, they should grow big and lush.

Well it's Saturday and I finally got to run in the 2 mile race for the first time in a while,I got passed by a lot of people but that's ok,and my time was 16 mins 41 secs which is not earth shattering, but it is only a week since the 6 day race and I am more than pleased with my race.Onward and Upward.
Friday, May 12, 2006
At about 3am this morning there some really loud thunder claps which I think woke up the whole neighbourhood, this was followed by some heavy rain, which was supposed to continue through the day.I am wrtining this post in the middle of the afternoon and there is bright sunshine out there.I am not complaining,it is just interesting how these things work out.
Thursday, May 11, 2006
It was trying to rain as I left for work this morning, but the day stayed mainly overcast.had a chance this afternoon to reflect on my race with Abichal. Some of the runners are recovering faster than others.I geuss it depends on how hard you pushed, and how well prepared you were.Experience is a big key.

I have spent the last few days test running my new shoes, and have finally decided which ones I will take out to the race with me.The weather here has been very changeable and although it can be quite pleasant during the day,it has been cold at night.I will be running in a mutiday race which lasts for 6 days. The idea is to accumulate as many miles as you can during this period of time, and this can be quite challenging.I will post a link on Sunday morning, the day I start the race,so that you can check on my progress if you want to.
Wednesday, April 26, 2006
So it seems that Barcelona will play Arsenal in the Champions Lge Final,it should be a very interesting match. My flu is still hanging around just a little, but my energy levels feel good right now.I will be running in a 6 day race at the weekend, and a 10 day race which will go on at the same time started today.I will post a link to the race the day before I start,so keep looking.
Tuesday, April 25, 2006
There was a problem with my ISP yesterday so I could not post.I am still using dial up but hope to go broadband very soon. This afternoon I watched Arsenal go through to the Champions Lge Final,it was a very interesting game with Arsenal giving up a penalty in the last 2 minutes and then had there goalkeeper save it.For you none soccer fans out there I know this is really boring,oh well.

It was my turn to tend the gate at the local tennis ground today, and it was raining all day,so it was pretty quiet except for lunch time.It did stop raining just before I finished, and I managed to get a run in with Utpal.I have managed to try out one of my new pairs of running shoes and they feel good.

Started out with rain this morning and once again it is cold.I had to officiate at the 2 mile race. Then after breakfast I went shopping,I planned to buy 1 new pair of running shoes but bought 2 at half price. There were some thrilling soccer games in the UK,Arsenal drew 1-1 with Spurs in the league, and Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-1 in their FA Cup semi-final,all good stuff.

Hopefully this is the last episode of the phone company saga.I made an appointment for between 2 and 6 this afternoon. When I got home from work after a few hours this morning,my house mate told me the repair man came at 9 am and he doesn't know if he did anything, but the phone seems to be working now , and I don't know if someone will come this afternoon. They wonder why people are switching to other services, for all I know it could be the change in the weather that has made the phone work better.
